A personal hijrah journey from home to Japan that redefined meaning of life, faith, and growth. Discover how moving abroad can transform your soul and mindset.

Everyone’s hijrah story is different. For some, it's about moving cities. For others, it's about shifting mindset and faith. For me, it was both—physically moving from my hometown in Indonesia to Japan, and spiritually migrating toward a more meaningful life.

At first, I was just chasing opportunity:
"日本で働きたい。新しい経験が欲しい。

Living in Japan wasn't easy at first. I struggled with language, customs, and a deep sense of isolation.

“どうしてここにいるの?”

But slowly, quiet discipline of Japanese life, deep respect for time, cleanliness, and harmony began to reshape my values.

In stillness of a tiny apartment in Tokyo, I found space to reflect.

I started to reconnect with my faith, my goals, and my identity.

Finding a Muslim community in Japan was challenging but rewarding.
I met people who had also made hijrah spiritually and geographically.

We prayed in small rented rooms, broke fast together during Ramadan, and learned how to hold onto faith in a non-Muslim majority society.
