A Day in My Life as a Virtual Assistant and Stay at Home Mom
remote work

Ever wondered how to balance remote work and parenting? Here’s a peek into my daily routine as a Virtual Assistant and full-time mom. リモートワークと育児の両立ライフスタイルをのぞいてみましょう!

6:00 AM - Morning Routine Begins(朝のルーティン)

My day starts early. I wake up at 6 AM to get a few moments of peace before household wakes up. I brew some coffee, do a quick stretch, and check my emails.

In Japanese:

「朝の静かな時間は、私にとってとても貴重です。」
(Quiet morning hours are precious to me.)

7:00 AM - Kids, Breakfast, and Prep

At 7 AM, real chaos begins. I prepare breakfast, get kids dressed, and pack their lunch. As a stay-at-home mom (専業主婦), this is one of busiest parts of my day.

By 8 AM, my kids are off to school or daycare. Now, it’s Virtual Assistant (バーチャルアシスタント) mode.

9:00 AM - 12:00 PM - Deep Work Time

This is my most productive window. I work on client tasks such as:

  • Email management
  • Scheduling and calendar updates
  • Social media posts
  • Basic graphic design or document editing

12:00 PM Lunch Break + Light Chores

I step away from my screen for lunch. Sometimes I cook a simple meal, or enjoy leftovers with my toddler at home. After lunch, I do a bit of cleaning or laundry.

Even during breaks, I check my phone in case a client sends an urgent message but I try to stay mindful and present with my family. バランスが大事です balance is everything.

1:30 PM - 3:00 PM - Meetings & Collaboration

I schedule any Zoom calls or team meetings during this time. As a Virtual Assistant, I often support clients from Japan, US, or Europe so managing time zones is part of my routine.

I make sure to say:

「よろしくお願いいたします」 before call, and 「ありがとうございました」 when it ends small touches that clients appreciate.

3:30 PM - Kids Are Home!

Now it’s family time again. I pause work and focus on my children. We do homework, prepare snacks, or just play. Even as a remote worker, motherhood remains my full-time job.

「子どもたちの笑顔が、一番のご褒美です。」

(My children’s smiles are best reward.)

8:00 PM – 10:00 PM Wind Down & Wrap Up

Once kids are asleep, I check client dashboards one last time, plan tomorrow’s tasks, and write notes. I also take some time to study Japanese or join online VA communities for support.
